"Springtime" Quilt - on location

Picnic ready!

Steve and I took my 10th finished quilt on a special location photo shoot , to Palisades Park on Ocean Ave. in Santa Monica. The natural sunlight, green grass, and ocean panoramas really accentuate the bright colors of this quilt!

The Patchwork Backside
Great view of the front - I didn't use a pattern for the first time and created this quilt by improvising. Very "modern quilting" approach.

Right now I am in limbo with what to do with this quilt - any ideas? :)

Baby K is now Baby Emily !

Baby Emily arrived 2.5 weeks ago, and I finally got the chance to meet her this past weekend. Here she is with her proud big sister Caroline and relaxing (as best she can!) on her quilt in her new room. She is tiny and as sweet as they come - the perfect inspiration for a quilt!

P.S. - Emily also just happened to be wearing UCLA colors on Sunday, that match perfectly with the quilt, don't you think?

Blues, browns, greys, and some yellow

Having just finished my "Springtime Quilt" this past weekend (and outdoor photo shoot to boot - pictures coming soon!), I was in need of some new fabric and a new quilt project. My next quilt will be for my much deserving parents, Alan and Janet, who have requested something in blues and browns. Using my artistic license, I am adding some greys and yellow to the mix as well. See fabrics above.

I visited the hottest new sewing/fabric store on the block, "Sew Modern", which opened this past week on Pico across from the Westside Pavillion. www.sewmodernonline.com Great modern prints selection and a cool new space for classes and such. The owner Lauren is a member of the LA Modern Quilt Guild, and I am attending my first meeting tonight - at her store.
